Uncorked July Event - Flight Night @ Wine Vault & Bistro

Where: Wine Vault & Bistro, 3731-A India Street, San Diego CA 92103
When: Tuesday, July 15th 2008, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.
How Much:
 Pay at the door $12, $14 or $16 (no advance ticket purchase required).

We're back at one of our favorite places, the Wine Vault & Bistro.  They've again assembled a Flight Night Wine Tasting especially for Uncorked.  When you arrive at the door, you'll be offered a choice of three different wine flights; all white ($12), mixed red & white ($14), or all red ($16).  Each flight includes four-3oz pours (which equals 1/2 bottle).  The owners Chris & Mary do a fantastic job of offering wonderful appetizers and selecting awesome wines for their flights.

For those who don't know, the Wine Vault & Bistro is a busy, casual, fun bistro, wine bar & retail shop. They are located on India Street, 1/2 block south of Washington Street, directly above Saffron, just down from Shakespeare's Pub.They offer a wide variety of wines at great prices, both by the glass or by the bottle to take home as well. And to pair with your wine, you'll be able to purchase a wide variety of wonderful light fare at very reasonable prices.  The also offer Winemaker Dinners, which are very popular and very reasonable.  Check out their website at http://www.winevaultbistro.com.

Parking: On-street parking is usually available within a 3-block radius. Remember that it's OK to park in yellow commercial zones after 6:00 and meters are free after 6:00 too. If you can't find parking next to the restaurant, there's always LOTS OF PARKING on San Diego Avenue just past the Chevron station across Washington Street.

Join San Diego Uncorked as we celebrate with a "Start the Summer" Happy Hour
at Arterra Bar and Lounge at the Marriott Hotel.  To start the summer what better

is even better is that they are treating us with some hot food and drink specials
to get everyone in the celebrating mode.

They will be featuring Five Wines from their Wine Spectator Award winning wine list.
In addition they will be offering specials on their beers along with their succulent menu.
And all this will be served out on their newly created patio lounge space.

San Diego Uncorked Bus Trip - Temecula Winery Tour

Description:
Come learn about the Temecula Wine Country as we go from winery to winery to indulge your senses at Wilson Creek, Falkner, and Weins Family Wineries. Our coach bus (with restroom in back) departs at 9:00AM to start our fun-filled day of wine & socializing.

Once we arrive in Temecula, we'll head to Wilson Creek Winery, a favorite & good friend of Uncorked.  We'll start with a tasting complimented by a fun, educational seminar about the basics of tasting, a history of the winery and their current vintages of wine.  As we enjoy the beautiful grounds we'll be able sample a selection of their wines, including the ever-popular almond champagne! We'll have some time to for you to browse for wines and souvenirs to bring back home.

For our second stop, we’ll visit the picturesque Falkner Winery, another long-time friend of Uncorked.  Their staff will give a talk about their wines while we enjoy a delicious lunch, your choice of: (1) Santa Barbara Salad, or (2) BLATT (bacon, lettuce, avocado, turkey, and tomato) Sandwich, or (3) Southwestern Chicken Salad Sandwich.  After lunch you'll have a chance to take guided a tour of their winery get some insight as to how the winery works, their current wines and what wines they are looking to produce in the future. We’ll also have the opportunity to purchase wines here as well!

Our last stop of the day will be Wiens Family Cellars.  This will be a new stop for Uncorked, but will be one we are looking forward to.  Known for their 'Big Reds', Wiens has very nice facilities as well. 

We'll wrap up this spectacular trip by arriving back in San Diego by 4:00 PM, so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the rest of your Saturday night plans! So grab a group of your favorite peeps and join us for what will be a trip to remember!

Are you Chic Greek?  Come to the San Diego Uncorked April Happy Hour and find out!  EXY San Diego will be our wonderful host for our next spectacular Happy Hour in April.  EXY is a new sophisticated yet informal restaurant and lounge in the Gaslamp featuring an innovative menu along with a extensive wine list.  Chef Carter and founder George Katakalidis have created a venue that blends a hip metropolitan atmosphere with sensational culinary delights that will create a unique experience for our April Happy Hour.

We have a great duo who have teamed-up for this year's spring dinner. John Alonge, owner of one of our favorite venues, the San Diego Wine & Culinary Center (www.sdwineculinary.com) is providing his wonderful kitchen & dining room.  Another old friend, Chef Chuck Samuelson (www.chucksamuelsoncatering.com), will be catering and offering a wonderful multi-course meal served with fantastic wines from the vineyards of Sunstone  (www.sunstonewinery.com), Michel-Schlumberger (www.michelschlumberger.com) and Bridlewood (www.bridlewoodwinery.com). For those who may not know, Michel-Schlumberger is an outstanding winery from the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County, known for their Bordeaux varieties.  Bridlewood is a wonderful winery from Santa Barbara County, known for their Syrah.  Sunstone is a fantastic winery from Santa Ynez Valley, known for their certified organic wines.

We will also be giving out some great raffle prizes including a Three-Pack of Wines
