An Open Letter to our Members
San Diego
Uncorked Farewell
With a heavy heart, our board has decided to fold San
Diego Uncorked.
It's been wonderful hosting monthly wine & social
events for the public as Uncorked from 2005 through
2008, and as our predecessor organization Wine Brats,
from 2000 through 2003.
Our current board no longer has the time to
devote to running the organization due to starting new
families & increasing career demands.
We would like to sincerely thank all of those who have
made it possible to run our organization through the
years … especially our wine sponsors (impossible without
them), venues, previous board members, volunteers … and
of course, you the public, who have supported and
attended our events.
Please be assured your email address remains safe with
us. We will
not sell or give away our membership (over 1000 members)
distribution list to anyone.
We will be sending out a few more emails to you
soon. Such
as a note to let you know we'll be making some donations
to a few local charities from our remaining cash flow.
That being said, our business model still works: a
non-profit, all volunteer organization hosting low cost
wine events for the under-40 crowd (wineries still have
a tough time to reach this demographic).
Just as Uncorked was reborn from Wine Brats, you
too could start-up your own wine organization using the
Uncorked/Wine Brat model.
We will share with you our knowledge,
organizational structure and materials we have developed
over the years, as well starting you off with a few
cases of tasting glasses.
Just send me a note and I'll help facilitate your
group's first meeting (richi@sandiegouncorked.com).
We wish you all well and hope you continue to enjoy the
wonderful world of wine.
Cheers,
San Diego
